Plan International UK is a global children’s charity. We work to give every child the same chance in life. But not every child is born with the same opportunities. When you’re a girl it’s even harder to be safe, in school and in charge of your body.
Our Girls’ Rights and Youth Team is the leading voice for Plan International UK’s global girls’ rights campaign, Because I am a Girl and is a fast-paced environment with ambitious plans for the future. Youth engagement and youth voice are at the heart of the work we do and the reason we do it. We are committed to universal girls’ rights and whether in Lagos, Lima or London, we should be calling for change for all girls.
In 2018 we published ‘Break the Barriers: Girls’ experiences of menstruation in the UK’ along with a menstrual manifesto. This led to campaigns and secured government funding to build a network of professionals across England who are working to end period poverty.
As a result of this research a leading global retailer with a commitment to ethical business has chosen to partner with us on a ground-breaking new campaign for girls to end period shame, leading to us recruiting an exciting new role.
As End Period Shame Campaign Manager, you will project manage and deliver the campaign, working across the partnership to coordinate our work on multi country campaigning, mobilisation and international youth advocacy. As part of a matrix team, you will manage relationships with our corporate partner and across Plan International to deliver the campaign.
A skilled campaigner, you will have experience of driving successful global campaigning and of campaign strategy development at a global level. You will have previously worked on a challenging or taboo subject and sensitively communicated it to colleagues and public audiences. You will be able to collaborate with, coach and manage others, including peers, and ideally demonstrate good knowledge of UK policy and practice around girls’ rights and gender equality.
