We are looking for an experienced Campaign Coordinator who can develop and implement a campaign strategy, engage disabled peoples’ organisations and develop strategic partnerships.
We are looking for someone with experience of campaigning work with a track record of delivering innovative digital campaigns that have led to real change. You will be an excellent networker internally and externally. And you must have a passion for social justice and supporting Disabled people.
You will need to have great analytical, IT, influencing, and communication skills. As Campaign Coordinator you will develop and lead a campaigning work for the charity, running bold campaigns which enable beneficiaries to play an active role in changing systems at a local and London level.
You will be working for an organisation of and for disabled people, working to improve access, choice, quality of life and independence for disabled people in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames and surrounding areas.
Hours: Part time, 21 hours per week. We are happy to consider applications for job share or flexible working arrangements
Contract: 18 months initial contract, with strong potential for extension
Annual Leave: 25 days leave plus bank holidays (Pro rata)

About the Campaign
Richmond AID want the government to rethink its charging reforms and ensure the reforms protect everyone from catastrophic care costs. Disabled people have to give up a significant proportion of their welfare benefits or pensions to pay for care and also face catastrophic costs of care. It is not right that people who need support to live an everyday life are forced to choose between heating and eating because of social care charging.
To implement its care charging reform the government is pushing amendments to the Care Act 2014 through the Health and Care Bill. The Government was defeated in the House of Lords and now the Bill will go back to the House of Commons.
Many disabled people have to use their benefits entitlements to pay for vital social care. This is unfair and unjust as benefits such as Disability Living Allowance (DLA), Personal Independence Payments (PIP) and Attendance Allowance (AA) are awarded to help with the extra life costs disabled people and their families face. Disabled people face extra costs of £583 a month for essential goods and services like heating, insurance, equipment and therapies, according to estimates by Scope.
About the role
This is an exciting opportunity to work as a Campaign Coordinator for Richmond AID. You will help us make a lasting impact on the policy and practice of London local authorities and drive forward equality and inclusion for disabled people.
Richmond AID are one of the partners in a project with Real as the lead partner and working closely with 3 other DDPOs (deaf and disabled people’s organisations) across London.
The project will be led by the Head of Programmes at Real and you will work closely as a team with the Communications and Marketing Coordinator and Policy and Research Coordinator also employed at Real.
You will establish great stakeholder relationships with aligned campaign groups for social care, key contacts in local authorities and DDPOs across London, active disability campaigners as well as developing links to a much wider audience to fully maximise the influence the campaign can have.
You will use the materials developed by the team as evidence-base to show the poverty that disabled people experience as a result of being charged for social care and feel confident to influence and lobby to bring about changes in policy, practice, and attitudes across our wide range of target audiences. You will build relationships and develop advocates and champions for our work across London.
You will line manage our Campaign Officer who will actively seek out local people that are users of adult social care, create case studies to feed into the campaign and support disabled people accessing social care to have a voice and have the skills and confidence to coproduce fairer outcomes for people who need access to social care
Most importantly, you will be passionate about empowering disabled people and creating positive change. You will need to be flexible, creative, committed, and you’ll be working in a supportive, committed team where those skills will be shared and valued.
