Application deadline: Mon 1st November

This is a full-time role

We are looking for a Head of Campaigns and Public Affairs to lead our external affairs function and develop effective campaigns and advocacy strategies to secure the fundamental changes needed to end the harm of prison to women, their families and communities.

As part of the senior leadership team and heading our Campaigns Team, this role will maintain and develop Women in Prison’s position in influencing systems change, build political support for our policy calls and ensure that women with lived experience of the criminal justice system are at the heart of our campaigning priorities.

You will oversee the direction and delivery of the organisation’s public affairs, campaigns, press, communications and policy output, including involvement in the Women in Prison national magazine. You will use your knowledge of parliamentary affairs and how to affect change through effective use of media and public engagement in order to develop and see through campaigns strategies to inspire and motivate members of the public, policymakers and politicians to support our aims.

If you’d like to apply your leadership, campaigning and strategic influencing skills to create tangible change – we’d love to hear from you!

We actively encourage applications from women from a variety of backgrounds, and with a range of skills and experiences. We are particularly interested to hear from Black, Asian and minoritised women and women who have personal experience of the criminal justice system. The role is only open to women, in accordance with the sex-based exemptions of the Equality Act 2010 pursuant to Schedule 9, Part 1.
