Office Administrator – 3 days per week

Basic Purpose of Job
An exciting opportunity to join a small friendly team at the UK’s leading human rights campaign on Burma. Burma Campaign UK is making a difference, supporting human rights activists from Burma and persuading the international community to cut funds and arms to the military dictatorship.
You will be responsible for the smooth running of the office and office administrative systems, including ensuring accurate and up-to-date bookkeeping and financial administration; managing and responding to supporter queries and requests for information and ensuring accurate records are kept of individual supporters and donations.

Job Description
Database administration
- First point of contact for enquiries by telephone, email and letter, ensuring
excellent supporter care of current and potential supporters. - Maintain supporter database, ensuring timely and accurate recording of all donor information and income onto the database through manual input.
- Acknowledging donations from individuals and organisations.
- Co-ordinating mail-outs.
- Provide administrative support for our partner charity Advance Myanmar.
Financial
- Maintain financial records and systems and ensure they are accurate and up-to-date, including reconciling accounts using Xero on a monthly basis.
- Process financial transactions, including cheques, cash, card and direct debit donations.
- Pay invoices and expenses.
Office management
Ensure the smooth running of the office. Duties include:
- Sorting and mailing daily post.
- Monitor and order stationery and office supplies.
- Develop and implement office systems.
- Keep office tidy.
- Liaise with IT support.
General
- Provide administrative support for events.
- Keep abreast of current affairs relating to Burma.
- Carry out other duties as reasonably requested.
- Be available to work weekends or evenings when necessary. Time Off In Lieu is given for work outside normal office hours.
Person Specification
Experience of office administration would be an advantage, but the post would also suit someone with excellent organisational skills and enthusiasm to learn.
The role also requires attention to detail, the ability to multitask, and interpersonal skills to develop good relationships with colleagues and supporters.
You will be in sympathy with the aims and strategy of BCUK and be willing to maintain confidentiality when required.

Essential:
- Good computer literacy
- Excellent organisational & administrative skills
- Good level of numeracy
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Team player with a flexible approach
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Proactive and self-motivated with drive and initiative
- Ability to delegate and manage voluntary staff when necessary
Desirable:
- Experience of using CRM databases, Beacon in particular
- Experience of using Xero accounting software
