Senior Media Officer

Location: Chelsea, Greater London

Salary expectation: £42,750

Application deadline: Sun 25th October

This is a full-time role

The Institute of Cancer Research, London, is one of the world’s most influential cancer research institutes, with an outstanding record of achievement dating back more than 100 years. Our scientists and clinicians are working every day to make a real impact on cancer patients’ lives. We provided the first convincing evidence that DNA damage is the basic cause of cancer, and today lead the world at isolating cancer-related genes and discovering new targeted drugs for personalised cancer treatment.

The Institute of Cancer Research (ICR) has charitable status and relies on support from partner organisations, charities, donors and the public. We are committed to attracting, developing and retaining the best minds in the world to join us in our mission – to make the discoveries that defeat cancer.

The ICR is seeking a Senior Media Officer to join its highly successful Media Relations team and help secure media coverage for the ICR’s world-leading cancer research.

The role is responsible for helping to implement the ICR’s communications strategy by writing media plans, press releases, pitches, statements and blogs, and responding to media enquiries. The post holder will lead on writing and implementing communications plans for client directorates, ICR policy work and projects spanning multiple organisations.

The Senior Media Officer will work with individual journalists to deliver high quality and high value broadcast packages and features in order to support the ICR’s strategic objectives.

Building relationships with client directorates, partners, funders, scientists and journalists will be an important part of the role.

Deadline: Sun 25th October
