In this event three major voices in the sector discussed issues such as “what new threats and opportunities are presented by the new government? “Where next for campaigners – will there be a surge in support for non-party political campaigning as a result?”
Main speakers:
Jackie Ballard – Chief Executive of Alcohol Concern and formerly in charge of Womankind Worldwide, RNID, RSPCA.
Tess Kingham – Social Change consultant. co-writer of the NCVO’s “The Good Campaigns Guide” and other publications. Formerly at Oxfam and Blue Cross.
Ryan Shorthouse – spoke as an expert on education and social policy and a political commentator. Has since become the founder and C.E.O of the liberal conservative Think Tank Bright Blue.
The Right Ethos was set up after our founder, Jonathan Dearth, had worked in the campaigning sector for 13 years, for campaigning organisations including Amnesty International, Shelter, Liberty and the World Development Movement. It was set up as a response to multi-sector recruitment consultancies moving in on the charity sector, and in particular not recognising that people who work for campaigning organisations are motivated by justice and long term change.
