Guest speaker: Fiona Hazell, Director of Communications and Engagement at Breast Cancer Now

Breast Cancer Now is the UK’s largest breast cancer charity, as a result of the merger between Breast Cancer Campaign and Breakthrough Breast Cancer in April 2015.

In June 2015, just after the general election, the charity launched with a bold new brand, with the ambition to stop women dying from breast cancer by 2050 at its heart.

This was led by Fiona Hazell who oversaw the challenges of bringing two teams together to launch a new communications and public engagement directorate.

Fiona has worked in the charity sector since 2002 leading marketing, communications and campaigns functions for both charities, as well as the charity Women In Sport and the Australian Cancer Council. Prior to this Fiona worked for Fishburn Hedges, a major corporate communications company, the National Lottery operator, Camelot, and KPMG. She is also a Trustee of the charity, Safer London, which supports young people affected by violence and crime.

This is the 7th senior communications & campaigner’s event that The Right Ethos has held. It will be an event with challenging contributions from an audience, usually around 80 attendees full of expertise in campaigning, communications and policy.

In order to maximise the quality of discussions, the event is limited to Directors, Head of Departments or Managers. Therefore, if you know of others who would like to attend or if you cannot attend but wish to pass your invite on to anyone with seniority of at least this level then please ask them to contact us. I hope that junior colleagues, who aren’t invited, will understand the aim of this event.

About The Right Ethos

The Right Ethos was set up after our founder, Jonathan Dearth, had worked in the campaigning sector for 13 years, for campaigning organisations including Amnesty International, Shelter, Liberty and the World Development Movement. It was set up as a response to multi-sector recruitment consultancies moving in on the charity sector, and in particular not recognising that people who work for campaigning organisations are motivated by justice and long term change.
